FITbiz is the collaborative effort of the principals of Doherty & Associates and Phillips Business Consulting. We understand the challenges of running a business because we run our own. We know there are not enough hours in the day, that budgets are tight and that the rule book doesn’t always apply.

We also know that many successful entrepreneurs are successful because they see things differently, tried a new untested approach and were willing to take risks that conventional wisdom discouraged. But, we also understand the need for basic business tenets and structure. We recognize that it takes much more than a business plan to get a company off the ground, thus we provide assistance in every aspect along the way allowing you to develop and grow a profitable business.

Mike Doherty, the founder of Doherty & Associates, has a long history of business development, strategy and planning. Mike has launched and managed several ventures personally, so he understands the challenges of managing day-to-day operations while remaining focused on growth opportunities and the bottom line. He has also worked as an investor and a lender and therefore recognizes the demands and expectations these parties bring to the mix. Mike’s clients benefit from both perspectives.

Melinda Phillips Zumski

Melinda Phillips Zumski, the founder of Phillips Business Consulting, has great facility with numbers and financial analysis, her singular strength is the ability to listen to her clients’ needs and provide common-sense, practical solutions tailored to their particular circumstances. With over ten years of experience managing and directing a small business, Melinda Phillips understands the joys and challenges that her clients face every day. She combines practical experience with a strong theoretical background: in 2001, she received a Master of Science of Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
